Silene stellata

Common Names: Starry Campion, Widowsfrill

Soil: Dry-Mesic  Mesic  Wet-Mesic
Height: 2 ft - 3 ft
Blooming: Jul Aug Sep Oct

Listed as Threatened in Michigan. This plant is quite adaptable ranging from oak woodlands to mesic prairies. From my observations it appears quite palatable to both mammals and insects, but I could not find many references to insect herbivores other than seed predators. It is largely pollinated by bees and moths.
